The 1993 film Judgment Night offers a unique look at suburban fears of city life, where even a small mistakelike taking a shortcut to a boxing matchcan lead to serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. The soundtrack perfectly captures this tense, middle-class nightmare by blending the music genres that suburbanites often feared most: Rap and Rock. Despite the film’s lack of success, the soundtrack proved to be a hit, going gold and producing four popular singles: Biohazard & Onyx’s ‘Judgment Night’, Helmet & House Of Pain’s ‘Just Another Victim’, Teenage Fanclub & De La Soul’s ‘Fallin’, and Faith No More & Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E.’s ‘Another Body Murdered’. It also features an eagerly awaited collaboration between Pearl Jam & Cypress Hill. The album showcases intense duets like Ice-T with Slayer, and a slightly paranoid vibe in Sonic Youth & Cypress Hill’s ‘I Love You Mary Jane’. This record is now available on vinyl again, for the first time since its original release.
