Produced by Teo Macero, the recordings reveal a band deliberately destabilising its own material, pushing standards into volatile, exploratory territory. While excerpts appeared sporadically in the 1970s and 1980s, the full scope of the performances only emerged decades later, where the complete presentation was immediately recognised as one of the greatest live jazz documents ever issued, earning the Penguin Jazz Guide’s rare “Crown”. This 10-LP edition mirrors the original complete sequence of performances, cut from the high-resolution Mosaic masters and pressed on 140-gram Black Vinyl.
