ART PEPPER Everything Happens To Me | 1959 – Live At The Cellar (Previously Unheard Art Pepper Recorded Live in 1959 – A major archival discovery, Everything Happens To Me: 1959 – Live At The Cellar captures Art Pepper across multiple nights at Vancouver’s legendary jazz club The Cellar during 1959 – a pivotal period that also saw releases such as Art Pepper + Eleven and Gettin’ Together. Recorded by club manager and saxophonist Dave Quarin, these recordings document Pepper in an intimate club setting with pianist Chris Gage, bassist Tony Clitheroe and drummer George Ursan. The recordings are presented as they occurred, preserving announcements, tape changes and even incomplete performances where reels ran out. The result is over four hours of previously unissued live material. Restored and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Michael Graves, the audio has been carefully unified to maintain the atmosphere of the room despite shifts in microphone placement across the nights. The set includes extensive liner notes by jazz writer Kirk Silsbee, featuring new interviews with Laurie Pepper and Dave Quarin, along with archival photographs and ephemera. The cover art is built around The Trio, a linocut by Harry J. Webb that originally hung above the bar at The Cellar. Housed inside a clam-shell box with hype sticker, factory sealed. Recommended)
