Metallica, live from Winston Farm, Saugerties, NY August 13th, 1994.
“We just got here, we don’t really know anything about what’s going on,” Lars Ulrich told Ricki Rachtman in an interview on MTV at Woodstock ’94. Arguably capturing the pre-Load era of Metallica perfectly, the band are in full force here on this WNEW-FM broadcast. The setlist mostly includes songs from The Black Album and Ride The Lightning, sandwiched between two choice cover versions. Hetfield joked to Rachtman Woodstock was “just another crappy gig.”, make no mistake, this classic remastered broadcast is testament to a time when Metallica soared and took it all in their stride.
